NetLibrary.com/thing 10

At one point in my "career," I tried out for assistant Web editor. As part of that process, I used an electronic book from NetLibrary.com to try and teach myself html. I didn't get the job, and I didn't learn much html, but I did find the electronic book very useful because I was able to read it and work on my Web page at the same time on my computer. I have learned to download eAudiobooks from NetLibrary and I have also trained most of the information desk staff at my branch how to download eAudiobooks. We are just waiting for the eAudiobooks to be "desuppressed." Also, in recent weeks I have assisted several library customers who wanted to check out electronic books from NetLibrary after finding the URLs in our catalog.

Readers Advisory Roundtable Happy Hour/Business Meeting at MLA/thing 5

Luann P., Old number fourteen, Christine Cundall, and Katherine Stecher at the Readers Advisory Roundtable Happy Hour/Business Meeting at the MLA conference last week. I got lots of title suggestions and enjoyed a delicious beer called ragtop. Note the nifty RART t-shirts Katherine and I are wearing.

And, I got this photo from Flickr, so I can cross using Flickr off my list of 23 things!

I made a trading card and blogged about it!/things 6 & 7

My trading card is pretty darned exciting! I need to find a picture of me in the library for my next card, though. The card was easy to make, and I am learning a lot about finding photographs, putting them into "my pictures" on this p.c., and then uploading them onto blogger. That's technology, isn't it? Yes!

My easiest and hardest lifelong learning habits/thing 3

The easiest habit for me is No. 7, teach and mentor others. I do this on a daily basis, answering questions from new staff members, showing colleagues how to download eaudiobooks, and just being a team player in general.

The hardest habit for me is No. 3, view problems as challenges. It is hard for me not to feel thwarted and frustrated by my inability to use technology the way I want to; i.e., I can't download anything on the library's machines, there aren't enough staff computers, my branch doesn't have a color printer, MS Publisher is only loaded on one machine at my branch, etc.
